i received a sample of this in a hella box and loved it! i’ve now purchased the full size bottle and couldn’t be happier with the results in getting from it!

Since micellar water became a “thing” i had only used the garnier one but i’ve found that to sometimes irritate my sensitive eyelids when removing eye makeup. the La Roche Posay does not!

i simply add a small amount to a cotton pad, hold down on my eyelids for 5-7 seconds and wipe away! it breaks down my eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara without having to go in a second time like i have had to with the Garnier.

the only downside of this would have to be the price, as you have to use quite a decent amount each time removing makeup, the bottle can sometimes be used quite quickly if using on a daily basis so when it’s on sale i try to buy a few so i have backups.

Initial thoughts on viewing the product:

I received this along with a bunch of other amazing products from La Roche Posay. Very exciting as I had never tried a lot of their range before. This micellar presents in a simple tubular-style bottle with a flip-top cap. The bottle is clear with a blue logo and loads of information in a number of languages. I was given the micellar for sensitive skin.

Thoughts on application:

Instructions for use are to apply using a cotton pad with no need for rinsing. I use cotton rounds. I typically start with the eyes and use two rounds that have been reasonably saturated and place them over closed eyelids and allow them to rest (rather than to rub the sensitive and thin skin) before swiping. From there I went to the rest of my face.

Two cotton rounds is not enough for a full face of (light) makeup so I will either go for another two or I will use another cleanser. What I have discovered is this micellar is great for removing all eye other makeup with the exception of heavy mascara and strong eyeliner. What I have also discovered is that, while you may not need to rinse according to the instructions, I personally felt the need for a secondary cleanse. Why? After my first few uses, I toned my skin using witch hazel and found makeup residue came off on my cotton round. For me and my desire to have fully cleansed skin in preparation for moisturisation, I need to have a two-step cleansing routine following makeup.

The other options for this micellar is to use as a morning cleanser, of an afternoon or evening when you have not used makeup, or if you have used another cleanser to remove your makeup and you want to use this as an alternative to toner (this last option is excellent). It’s a light cleanser, you just end up using more than you intend. I also think this is a great product for travelling, for quick clean-ups when you’ve been doing your makeup (particularly around your eyes), it is non-irritating, great for those who wear contact lenses (I wear glasses and contacts).

This is one of the most effective make up removers I have used. A lot of toners and make up removers irritate my eyes but this one is gentle on the skin, yet still effective enough to remove even the most stubborn eye make up.
I wouldn't recommend this as a face cleaner as it's not strong enough to clean your entire face thoroughly but as a make up remover before cleaning your face it's perfect.
