Celebrities who say no to surgery
When a celebrity looks fabulous at the age of 60, many of us automatically think they’ve had Botox, plastic surgery or some miracle treatment that only famous people can afford. So many celebrities have had some sort of cosmetic procedure, that we just don’t even question it anymore.
The problem with this is that many of us are giving up on ageing gracefully, believing that it’s impossible to do so without a little bit of surgical help.
Well we're here to give you back some hope, with the help of celebrities that are anti-plastic surgery.
Yep, that’s right, anti-plastic surgery and we tell you what, some of them look damn good for their age....

Emma Thompson
Age: 60
Emma Thomspon, along with Kate Winslet and Rachel Weisz co-founded the British Anti-Cosmetic Surgery League, swearing to never undergo any type of cosmetic surgery, including Botox. Thompson said: “It’s awful that everyone thinks people at 60 should look 30.”
Alternatives: Emma prefers to run and exercise outdoors instead of going to the gym. She says, “I do it almost every day, partly because I want to drink wine and eat what I bloody well want, but because around 40, everything changes.” She also likes walking and Pilates.

Jamie Lee Curtis
Age: 61
Although she has had botox injections in the past, Jamie regrets her decision and is now against cosmetic surgery. She says, “I am appalled that the term we use to talk about aging is 'anti’. Ageing is as natural as a baby's softness and scent. Ageing is human evolution in its pure form."
Alternatives: Jamie believes that genetics plays a big part in ageing, saying she now resembles both of her grandmothers. Jamie has given up alcohol and has a super healthy diet free of sugar, white flour, cereals and breads. She also does Pilates to keep in shape.

Meryl Streep
Age: 70
Meryl has been quoted as saying “those who succumb to Botox draw more attention to their features than those who don't.” She prefers to age gracefully without any cosmetic surgery.
Alternatives: Meryl is a big fan of the anti- ageing skin care line from Tracie Martyn. She will treat herself to a re-sculpting facial from Martyn before most red carpet events. Meryl prefers swimming instead of intense cardio workouts and aims to swim one and half kilometers every day.
Julia Roberts
Age: 52
Julia has said that she’s not interested in botox whatsoever, preferring to keep as much emotion and movement in her face and age naturally. "I have three children who should know what emotion I’m feeling at the exact moment I’m feeling it."
Alternatives: When it comes to fighting the ageing process without surgery Julia says, “I think optimism and having a sense of humour definitely help, but happiness is something you cultivate. Once you find it, that’s the key to looking beautiful. That, Lancôme eye cream and kissing!” The star is also obsessive about sunscreen and never leaves the house without it.

Sigourney Weaver
Age: 70
Even at age 70, Sigourney Weaver is still against botox and plastic surgery. She says, "I would never have plastic surgery or Botox injections. How can you as an actress? They both leave you with such a tight, unreal look. Actors' faces should actually be able to move."
Alternatives: Having had both parents suffer from skin cancer, Sigourney is religious about applying sunscreen. She takes Omega 3 fish oil supplements and Vitamin D tablets every day. She also believes in alternative medicines and says she’d rather things like acupuncture and massage than pumping her body full of chemicals.

Tina Fey
Age: 49
The comedian and TV star has said she’ll never get botox saying, “I think it is bad. People who have too much, they look like their faces are full of candles -- a shiny, shiny face.”
Alternatives: Tina believes the best way to fight ageing is to take care of your skin. She says, "Makeup companies like to make skin care seem complicated, but let me demystify it for you. The three secrets of great skin are moisturise, stay out of the sun, and be Italian."

I love Julia and Sigourney, such an inspiration to see such talented women and in the public eye daily prefer to look natural then look like a plastic clone of themselves.

They all look really good and prove that with some common sense it's ok to age gracefully. Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts are two of my all time faves, I think they are both fab.

so pleased there are those in the spotlight taking this stance. So many celebrities look so fake after cosmetic surgery, these women look beautiful and the lines show they have lived.

They look stunning! much more beautiful than the unnatural botox look, which always looks slightly off to me.

If I can learn to accept a few character lines I will be happy but it does freak me out seeing little changes in my skin and face!
