    8 genius products for a minimalist skin care routine

    A true minimalist at heart, and a fan of the KonMari method, I’m forever on the hunt for genius beauty products to simplify my skin care routine. For non-diehard KonMari fans, the KonMari method is all about identifying things that make you happy and letting go of what doesn’t bring joy to your life. So I thought why not adopt this way of thinking to my skin care routine.

    I went to task with ditching products that weren’t making my skin happy and keeping those that were effective and nourishing. Since doing so, I've discovered there are so many upsides to rethinking and simplifying your skin care routine. Most importantly? It becomes a major time saver! But it also makes you think long and hard about the most effective products for your skin type. I also found that by reducing the number of products I’m using, there were fewer ingredients for my skin to be irritated by.

    While this way of thinking isn’t for everyone - hello Korean skin care routines - the results are showing on my skin. By sticking to a minimalist routine, founded on the KonMari method, my skin is much easier to manage. Genius!

    At the moment: 1.wash face with cleanser (am-water, pm-cleanser)) 2. Moisturize (has acids, strong, potent! So no need for serums, toners). That is it.

    If going outdoors for longer than 2 minutes 9 am-5pm: Wash face with water. Slather mineral based spf. Done.

    My routine is pretty simple. The products not the steps are often changing. I always tone! And I love a good cleanser. .

    My skincare routine is similar for morning and night but the products change. For instance, I prefer a lighter moisturiser for day time and a richer one for night and sometimes I also add a facial oil at night.

    I've tried the Garnier cleanser and the Alpha-H Lip and Eye treatment before. I have to say that products that claim to do multiple things all at once tend to perform worse compared to specific targeted products.

    I’ve just added more steps to my routine after years of only using cleanser and moisturiser and my skin is loving it. Don’t cut your nose off to spite your face.

    I disagree with this thinking. Your skin has different needs in the morning versus at night. During the day I use SPF, but at night I usually have to remove makeup. My skincare needs differ!

    Not interested in any of the product's there but definitely agree with the new am/pm routine as my routine is already like this except take out hydrating mist & brightening serum & replace with two serum's, one that I use during the day only & the other at night time.

    Got to love a more minimal makeup and skin care routine. I use a sunscreen as a primer pretty much all year round. I love products with multiple uses

    I was looking at your after list and I am a bit confused. Is the same list of products used in he am and pm? You have spf listed. I wouldn’t use that at night... is that the only one excluded at night or are there others excluded either in the morning or evening?

    I thought my routine was complex but I apply less than this on the 'after' routine. HAHA. I try to use a serum that contains everything I need- ie vitaminc with e etc then sunscreen, pm I am even less complicated.

    Unless I wear makeup during the day or night, my routine is pretty simple. I do love my BIODERMA Micellar Water.

    I'm a minimalist...I think? I'm not sure how many steps makes you not one. lol. Just cleansing and moisturising might constitute as a minimalist! haha. My steps are cleanser, face scrub, face mist, serum, facial oil, moisturiser, SPF, Vit C powder. (These steps change depending on the day - I don't do all of these every day). I'll usually do a hydrating face mask on the weekend too.

    Those Simple makeup wipes are the best I’ve tried, wish I could be minimalist but it’s jyst not in my personality lol, less is more, nope, more is more haha

    Micellar water is OK in my opinion to use as a precleanse step. I wouldn't leave micellar water on my skin like a toner. The residue would hinder active ingredients like acids or vitamins from working into the skin properly, there are usually a lot of additives in micellar water too. Another member, duality has also said that micellar water has a high pH level, so I wouldn't recommend leaving it on regularly.

    I've taken out one step, but I've combined my AM and PM products. The moisturiser I'm using is super hydrating and rich so it's working well for me to use it at night, too.

    I love the KonMari method in all facets not just skincare! In my head I want to use a heap of products but I never do this consistently and if I have a few products layed out ready to use I use them and I find less is better for my skin! I’ve realised over the years how much clutter and stuff has such a negative impact! I’m trying to use my hoard of products and then I just want a few go to products!

    I have sensitive skin and actually find the less products I use on my skin the better. Ever since I simplified my skin care routine about a year ago I've noticed less breakouts.
