Let's talk: pregnancy and pigmentation

We all know that when you fall pregnant, your body goes through a number of changes. From weird aches and random bouts of nausea, to cravings and even a heightened sense of smell! What people rarely talk about however, is the somewhat unsightly facial skin pigmentation known as melasma, or the ‘mask of pregnancy.’
Melasma is a very common, patchy brown or tan facial skin discoloration, which generally occurs in women during their reproductive years or while they’re pregnant, when there’s an increase in the melanocyte-stimulating hormone. This, in turn, causes increased production of melanin, the tanning hormone, which protects the skin against ultraviolet light and controls the pigment in our skin tone. Melasma typically appears on the upper cheeks, upper lip, forehead, and chin of women 20-50 years of age – mostly during summer and especially during the second and third trimester of pregnancy.
But no pregnant lady should have to put up with this pesky pigmentation during this special time in her life, which is why we have a product on hand that can help! Garnier Skin Naturals Dark Spot Corrector Daily Unifying Moisturiser works to target dark spots and pigmentation on your skin by utilising the power of pure vitamin C, which is a hard working, yet gentle exfoliator that helps to break down discolouration. The lightweight formulation also combats surface textural imperfections and leaves you with a smooth, more even complexion that you can be proud of (we don’t want you hiding in those snaps with your newborn, do we?)
It's our 5th birthday this week and to celebrate we're giving YOU the chance to win some awesome beauty prizes – hooray! I know, totally selfless right?
For your chance to win one of five Garnier Dark Spot Corrector Daily Unifying Moisturisers, valued at $16.95 each, simply answer the question below.

I have used spell casting to get my ex husband back to me and also get pregnant with twins girls through the help of a great and trusted spell caster after 12 years of marriage.
When I came online last year, I met a testimony about Priest ODUNGA who has been helping people and I decided to contact him. We spoke on email at (odungaspelltemple@gmail.com) and later he gave me his Whats App number which is +2348167159012 and he assured me he would help me get my ex husband back after 3 years of no contact. My husband left me because I was unable to give him a child for 9 years after our marriage. There was no contact between us anymore and I didn't know how to get to him. Priest Odunga is the best spell caster I must say. My husband called me after 24 hours of contacting Priest Odunga. Soon I received a herbal medicine for fertility from this man, I became fertile. I and my husband reconnected that very week, had sex and I became pregnant. Today, I am happy today to be the mother of twins girls and this is ALL THANKS TO PRIEST ODUNGA. I came online to say this If you need help, I believe you are saved with this spell caster. Contact his email at (odungaspelltemple@gmail.com) and you too will give a testimony too to help others

Melasma- the bane of my existence along with rosacea!
I wear UPF clothing and a broad brimmed hat.
I diligently wear tinted physical sunscreen, use a blue screen filter, use a retinoid, vitamin C, E, ferulic acid, niacinamide and azelaic acid.
I also use bearberry, liquorice and glycolic acid but I feel it's not budging.

Pigmentation. Two pregnancies in two years has left me patchy and ugly. No amount of concealer fully covers them up as they are dark and big. My husband says he can't notice them but its ME that gets upset daily when I look in the mirror!!

Biggest skin concern is dry skin, It's a never ending application of moisturizers the more natural the better as they last longer!
And don't we all need that!! :)

My biggest skin concern is the occasional pimples and pimple blemishes. I have started to use rosehip oil and have found that it helps fade the blemishes

Dark under-eye circles. I've tried every beauty product out there to no avail. They are mainly genetic in my case, and my very fair skin makes them stand out even more. My naturopath recommended drinking plenty of water (about 3-4 litres a day!) and getting plenty of sleep. I suffer from insomnia so that's a hard one. I do find if I follow these rules as well as following a healthy diet, they do improve.
Though I NEVER leave the house without a good concealer!

I have red spots on my shoulders & neck and everyone always thinks it's allergy, so frustrating! Nothing seems to help, except to cover it up. Pigmentation on my face when pregnant is another one. I'm 33 weeks pregnant now and actually got a new one overnight on the palm of my hand!

I suppose one of my major skin issues at the moment is pigmentation, dark blotches seem to appear on my face due to hormonal changes that are happening with me at the moment. I am hoping my skin will settle down soon. SandraXxX

It would definately have to be pigmentation from too many years in the sun without sun block and I now definately try and put sun block on each day .I try and exfoliate each day and have tried some creams but nothing has worked so far.

My biggest skin issue is psoriasis on my knees, elbows, back and more recently, my finger around under the nail bed. Some steroid creams prescribed by my doctor help get it under control when it is particularly bad once every few years, but generally, lucas paw paw ointment is my saviour. I apply it morning and night as part of my skin care regime, and carry it in my handbag for mid day applications if needed. The best part is that paw paw is an excellent lip balm, helps relieve cuts and scrapes, and helps reduce the appearance of scars. The best one size fits all product.
