Changing a baby’s nappy and cleaning its bottom doesn’t come naturally to all new mums. It’s something we learn as we go. Some of the key things to consider when changing baby’s nappy are:
How often should you change your baby’s nappy?
We’re told that newborn babies should be changed around 6-10 times a day. However, this figure is more to do with ensuring your baby has good bowel and bladder movements than anything else.
In general, you would expect to change your baby’s nappy 5-6 times a day.
What are the best products to use for cleaning a baby’s bottom?
This really depends on personal preference. Some mums try to avoid using baby wipes as they can be harsh on baby’s sensitive skin or can be too wet and lead to nappy rash. Yet using lukewarm water and cotton wool just sometimes isn’t practical.
