What's the deal with fibre lash mascara?
By now you may have heard about fibre lash mascaras. And if you haven’t already tried one, you’d be forgiven for not knowing exactly how they differ from regular mascaras.
With regular mascara, you’re coating your lashes with a liquid formula usually made up of pigment, oils, guanine, and waxes. The formula of a fibre lash mascara actually contains tiny little fibres (they kind of look like small hairs) that you brush on to your lashes to give them a more exaggerated appearance – almost as if you’re wearing false lashes. The key to applying most fibre lash mascaras is focusing on applying the product on the ends of your lashes to give them extra length and volume.
Basically, it’s like mascara and false lashes got together and had a lengthening, volumising, and thickening baby.
Sound right up your alley? Then one of these may be just what you need…
ModelCo FIBRE LASH – Achieving a false-lash effect requires a two-product process when using ModelCo. First you apply the extension mascara, then the lash fibres, then the extension mascara again. The first layer helps the lash fibres adhere to your lash follicles and the last coat secures the fibres in place. Results so good even Dannii Minogue swears by it!
freezeframe® Instant Lash Extreme – The water-resistant formula of this mascara must be applied on to clean, dry lashes to lengthen and thicken them. First, focus on the lash tips to extend your lashes, then sweep upwards from the root of your lashes to lock in the extensions and thickening fibres. And now you’re done: thicker, longer lashes for up to 24 hours!
Silk Oil of Morocco Fibre Lash Mascara – Organic green tea natural fibres help thicken and lengthen your natural lashes by 150 per cent. The kit comes with two wands – a gel wand and a fibre wand. After applying the gel, coat your eyelashes from root to tip with the fibres (you can build the volume by applying multiple coats), and then set it by applying another coat of the gel. And it’s safe to use for contact lens wearers, too!
Mirénesse Lash Transplant Lengthening – This little kit comes with three products: a transparent gel, silky-white lash fibres, and a comb. Just as with some of the other lash fibre kits mentioned above, you start by coating your lashes with the gel. Then you follow with the white lash fibres, and finish with a coat of the gel. The comb should be used at the end to perfect your new lashes. Oh, don’t worry about your eyelashes looking a bit white – the gel will coat them in a natural-looking colour.
Studio Lash Fibre Lash Mascara, $64.95, www.fibrelashmascara.com.au – The Studio Lash kit helps you achieve longer, thicker lashes in just 60 seconds! If you want a more dramatic effect, follow this routine: lengthening mascara, extending fibres, lengthening mascara, extending fibres, lengthening mascara. Always start and end with the lengthening mascara and never double coat the extending fibres without a lengthening mascara in between. Too easy!
