Trend report: awesome winter makeup
From statement lashes and moody lips to soft, feminine eyes, there truly is an on-trend make-up look for everyone this season. You can go bold or soft, dramatic or feminine – it’s completely up to you. We’re just hoping you’ll work one of these winter-esque styles into your make-up routine seriously soon…
WINTER TREND #1: artistic eyeliner
Yes, it’s no longer daring enough for us to simply apply our favourite eyeliner along our lash line and be done with it – this season’s eyeliner look is a little arty farty. We’re talking anything from liquid eyeliner squared off at the tip of the wing and lines under the lower lash line, to heavy, graphic liquid liner that not only wings out, but also covers the entire lid. Go on, be brave. We dare you…

WINTER TREND #2: moody nails in plum, black or navy
What happens to your digits in winter? They get tough, and they get moody. So ditch your bright hues for the time being, and embrace the darker hues. Not a fan of cool girl black? Fall in love with shades that are just shy of being black: plum, burgundy, purple, sapphire, raisin, navy, cherry, aubergine and even chocolate. Oh, and when dark and deep is the aim of the game, remember to keep your nails short.

WINTER TREND #3: bright eyelids and lashes
Bored of dark colours? Pop some bright liquid liner or shadow on your eyes, or better yet, swipe on some colourful mascara. We’re talking anything from bold electric blue and washes of turquoise to pops of fluoro yellow. Whatever the hue – and wherever it’s applied – the brighter, the better. Just remember to keep you lips and cheeks relatively nude, or you’ll find your face a little overwhelming…

WINTER TREND #4: dark merlot and chocolate lips
Bold lips are a favourite every winter, but there’s something extra-rich and intense about this season’s lip. It’s a little more vampy and ridiculously moody. Sporting any shades of merlot and even chocolate will see you bang on-trend, just team them with bare eyes and contoured cheeks for maximum impact.

WINTER TREND #5: gold eye shadow
Simple, elegant and insanely pretty, there’s not a woman out there who can’t pull off a stunning gold eye shadow. Keep your make-up pared-back with a touch of gold shadow on your lids and mascara on your lashes, or amp up this sunshiny hue with earthy-toned eye shadows.

WINTER TREND #6: subtle, fresh, barely-there make-up
Not a fan of going dark? Take a complete turn and keep your make-up fresh and warm and seriously subtle. Think a hint of nude gloss on the lips, windblown rose pink cheeks and a soft light brown shadow on the eyes on a canvas of glowy, luminous foundation. Better yet, skip the intensity black mascara and opt for a softer brown or clear instead.

WINTER TREND #7: smouldering eyes
Not to be confused with the traditional smoky eye, this season’s smouldering eye features smudged black pencil eyeliner on both the upper and lower lash line, blended messily to create an imperfect look. The lids are bare and the finish is a little bit panda-eye-esque and a whole lot of sexy.

Which is your favourite winter make-up trend? Are you keen to embrace any of them? Or are you already sporting these looks?
