Makeup trend: Eye dots

Last month’s messy eye make-up trend was pretty unusual, and now it’s given way to an even more unexpected look: under eye dots.
Varying in form, size and colour, the little dots haven’t just been popping up all over the catwalks – beauty bloggers, celebrities and street style mavens are also embracing the trend, showing it actually works in real life.
I know it might seem strange to whack a blob of eyeliner under your eyes, but here’s why I like it: firstly, it’s reminiscent of 60s icon Twiggy’s infamous lash look, which was all about highlighting the eye area.
Secondly, the dots can make your eyes seem bigger and brighter. The trick is not to overdo it: a teeny dot under each eye is all that’s required to nail the look. Check out Rochas’ SS15 make-up for inspiration:
I also love beauty vlogger It’sMyRayeRaye’s slightly subtler take. She’s paired her dots with a dewy base, matte lip and super long lashes. So. Cool.

For a vintage variation, I’d swap the nude lippie for a fire-engine red, such as Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids Lip Color in ‘Neon Red’. If you want to amp it up even more, Anna Sui’s bold electric blue version is also fabulous (though it’s not exactly an everyday look):
No longer OTT, blue eyeliner is surprisingly easy to wear. For a bold blue dot, try jane iredale Mystikol in ‘Lapis Lazuli’ or essence Long lasting Eye Pencil in ‘Blue’.
Do you like the eye dot trend? What other make-up looks have you experimented with lately?

Another crazy trend but each to their own. But I don't really like it too much.

My gorgeous best friend is goth and has been dotting for so long. It's really pretty and makes her look so cute!

This is definitely not a look I like. I did quite like the twiggy look though.

I don't consider this eye dot thing to be a trend. It's just an experiment on the catwalk.

Mmmmm.., maybe not. I think it distracts from the eye itself.

I don't think it works with the black dots, it looks like a slip up, the last one with the blue probably looks the best

I don't really understand the point of eye dots, but I can see how other people may like it.

I don't want to sound mean - but did the MUA for Rochas' actually send the models down the catwalk/or wherever with the "model hair-clips" still in too? Cause that would be really ridiculous...

Can you imagine having a conversation with someone sporting this look? I'd be too distracted and wanting to wipe their face with a tissue the entire time!

No, it would look a bit strange for everyday wear. Maybe for fancy dress or something.
