Trend alert: skin is in

In case you hadn’t heard, skin is in.
Glowing, gorgeous natural skin is the base of all things beauty, and – as seen at Alex Perry’s recent runway show at MBFWA – it’s worth accentuating. Doing your make-up for a night out doesn’t always have to involve smoky eyes or a bold, bright lip. By using the right techniques, products and shades, your skin could be the star of the show.
Golden glowing skin step #1 Prep perfectly
Ideally, for this look to work your skin will be fairly imperfection-free and well hydrated, so make sure to take care of it in the lead up. Try applying a hydrating mask like LonVitalité C4 Coconut Milk Hydrating & Nourishing Face Mask the night before, or for any last-minute pimples try Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Pimple Cream.
Golden glowing skin step #2 Find your match
It has never been so important for your foundation shade to be exactly right. Test shades just under the cheekbone and the one that disappears into your skin as you blend is the winner. L’Oreal True Match Liquid Foundation blends flawlessly and will deliver a healthy-looking glow that matches both the colour and texture of your skin.
Golden glowing skin step #3 Contour & highlight
Firstly, highlight your forehead, cheekbones, eyes and down the line of the nose bone. Use a liquid highlighter like Benefit High Beam to ensure a more dewy finish. Secondly, contour underneath the cheekbones (suck in your cheeks and follow the hollow line), sides of the nose and sides of the forehead. A shimmery bronzer like Bourjois Maxi Delight Bronzer will help to create a glowing effect. Find out how to contour and highlight like a pro right here.
Golden glowing skin #4 Bronze lids
Use a dark bronze colour on your eyelids, roughly two or three shades darker than your skin tone. Again, make sure it has a shimmery finish, as a matte colour will not have the same glowing effect. Try mixing a few of the colours from The Body Shop Shimmer Cube; the earthy shades are ideal for any neutral look and mixing them together will give you greater pigmentation.
Golden glowing skin step #5 Mascara
The only non-neutral colour you need in this entire look is black mascara. No eyeliner, just a fantastic mascara that will separate the lashes and coat them evenly. Avon Mega Effects Mascara will give you great definition and volume to accentuate the eyes further and complete your golden glowing look.
Top tip: You can also apply a clear or nude gloss to the lips so they’re not completely lost within the neutral tones.

I do like this look, and wear it all the time. Keeping it simple and not over the top is probably better for our skin anyway.

Yes I love this look - I often have make-up on that looks a bit similar to this. Bronzer can make someone look really naturally healthy (even when they're not!).

This new trend suits me to a T :) I invest more in skincare than in makeup so I do this even if it's not in fashion, so to speak.

I think skin is so important. Far rather put effort into my skincare routine than covering up blemishes with mountains of foundation/concealer. Contouring is not my skill though- off to follow that link!
