How to get Beyoncé's Vogue Cover Highlight

They don’t call Beyoncé Queen B for nothing, and her latest Vogue cover speaks volumes as to why this natural beauty is so influential, not only in the music industry but also as a beauty icon!
On the cover, she went for a very minimal makeup look, and we are so here for it! The gorgeous, dewy and highlighted finish makes Bey look like a vision, and thankfully for us, her celebrity makeup artist, Sir John, has come through and given us all the details on how to re-create the look in a press release about the shoot.
Keep reading to find out Sir John’s exact technique for getting Bey’s glow!

“Beyoncé loves a ‘no-makeup’ makeup look," says Sir John on creating the cover look. “She’s all about being confident in your skin and owning your natural element. This look was all about redefining glamorous as a state of mind. We focused on enhancing her natural brows, skin, and structure — and bringing out that inner glow."
He starts with the foundation application and says it’s really important to, “always apply foundation on wet, moisturized skin—it’s the best way to lock in your glow.” Doing this will really set the tone for a dewy, glowy base!
Using a range of Marc Jacobs products to create the dewy finish, Sir John says he prepped Beyoncé’s skin with the Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer, as this is a really hydrating product – perfect for getting your glow on!

Once the face was prepped, he says he used a two-step technique to get that “bronzey, rose-gold finish.” Step one was to grab the Marc Jacobs Beauty’s Dew Drops in Fantasy and place that on the “basic highpoints”, which include the cheekbones, nose, cupid bow, and forehead. “Always avoid shimmer on the front of the face. Apply it to your angles for sexiness," says Sir John.
Once he had applied the highlighter to the high points, he took the same highlighter and mixed it with a foundation that was slightly darker than Bey’s face. “It’s all about a glowy contour. Dew Drops are worth their weight in gold. It’s the one thing I have in my bag everywhere — I use it for concerts, for shoots, for tours — I use it religiously," Sir John says.

His final step? Set it all with the Marc Jacobs Finish-Line Perfecting Coconut Setting Powder!

In the light of all the "trends from the 90s/00s" articles, I wonder how we'll look back on today's highlighting craze :D I think it's beautiful but I wonder if what looks natural to us now will make our grandkids go "wow mum really?!" hahaha.

It doesn't look like Beyonce is wearing make-up at all she just look's natural. When I apply my foundation I always put it on a dry face although it still look's good on me I might try this trick & apply on wet face instead.

Great tips for applying makeup. I love the face and natural looking makeup but it's a shame about the headpiece.

Not sure about the headpeace, I guess some artistic expression. Kind of takes away from her natural beauty.

Love these tips. I did not know to apply foundation to wet skin for a dewy glow. Beyoncé looks amazing as per always.

I did not know that one either, I usually let my cream settle before applying the next 'layer'.

For her pics, Beyonce seems to be obsessed with flowers. Makeup looks good though.

Hard to see anything when she’s wearing the contents of a large vase in her head lol

I'm used to seeing her with more makeup on, she looks different in the picture with minimal makeup on. I like the tip about applying foundation to wet skin to get more of a glow.

Wow that flower headpiece looks incredible. And heavy. It kind of reminds me of Frida Kahlo

So I'm the only one LOVING the floral headpiece?

That was why she needed to keep her makeup minimal, to balance out her head piece :)

I don't wear make up often so when I do I like it to be light and natural. (The head ware looks really heavy).

Wow I've never applied makeup to 'wet' skin but I do moisturise before I put makeup on so I suppose that's atleast some kind of wetness!

If I highlight properly I tend to use a cream highlighter first and then dust over that with a powdered (compact) highlighter to set the creamy one. If I'm in a hurry I just dust on some of the powdery one.

I really can’t say that I like this look

If I went with this minimal makeup look people would ask me if I'm sick. Gotta do up the eyes with mascara and eyeliner to look awake. Coconut setting powder sounds good though.
Bey looks like she's about to sneeze in the first pic.

I can't tell you how many times I've gone makeup free and people had asked me if I was sick.
