Blogstar entry: it's the very cheek of it
Whether this summer you intend on sporting a Jets by Jessika Allen bikini, a White Suede summer cocktail dress, frayed Sass n Bide denim shorts with a white singlet or in fact all of the above, those cheeks of yours could very well be your best summer asset. And I don’t mean those on your behind!
Youth reminds us how easily we flush at the drop of the fedora or floppy beach hat. Nature offering an irresistible glow fashioned by the hormones pulsing through our blood. But as we age, we find ourselves forced to assist the fading glow in an effort to steal back the years, which believe it or not, all starts with healthy looking cheeks.
Mastering the bronzed goddess sheen, fresh-faced peachy hues or well defined and contoured pinks is all about balance. The right style for the right outfit, the best option for day versus night, and the ideal illusion for our individual personalities; will undoubtedly always come down to blending.
Using tints, stains, creams or powdered blushes is just the start and primarily should be the result of personal preference, especially when we can combine a clear lip balm to all and create a matching lip colour. However, whilst tints and bronzers are hands down favourites for summer (when we typically opt for less makeup), there is no rule for which is best.
In fact, the only rule that holds true in creating those perfected cheeks is the brush and the blending of the tone, colour or hue. Always starting high and using your natural cheekbone structure as a guide, keep it simple and slowly shape that colour into your foundation, base or tinted moisturiser.
The investment in a fine-hair brush with movement and depth will offer you the greatest advantage in capturing that image we admire on the big screen. That sun-kissed effortless glow, those rosy apples beneath the eyes or that defined, sultry elegance can all be achieved with time, patience and the right resources.
No smiling or sucking in your cheeks to apply, just work with the unique raw structure and lines before you in the mirror. Know your face and your personality. Know what you wish to achieve and be bold, creative and dramatic when you want to be. Trust that nature somehow knows best for us and take the lessons that it teaches. You see just as nature intended, the innocent blush sparked by a wave of emotions or the natural sun kissed glow after a day on the beach, can steal a mans heart in but a moment.
So whilst your rule may always have been mascara or lipstick before ever leaving home, never forget those warm and engaging cheeks that frame our complexions – they are our powerfully seductive womanly virtue. For you never know when your next romance may strike, and again you never know… it might just be the very cheek of it!
