4 fast ways to get out of a hair rut
Let me guess. You wake up in the mornings, look at your long, limp locks in the mirror and think to yourself, “Oh well, ponytail it is again today.”
But before you pick up your everyday black elastic and scoop up your lengths into your plain ol’ pony, you should know that there are many simple ways in which you can ‘jazz-up’ your look for everyday wear – without going to much effort at all. Here are some of your most commonly used hair rut excuses – and our awesome answers to them!
LAME PONYTAIL EXCUSE #1: my hair is too limp to wear out
If your hair hangs by your face and your ears pop out the sides, you definitely need a little lift in your life. What you don’t know is that limp hair still looks limp when it’s in a ponytail. If you’re stuck for time and can’t be bothered with root-lifting products, simply take the front pieces of your hair and twist them together towards the back of your head. Pin down with a bobby pin and then loop your finger under the twist and gently pull forward, creating a quiff that screams glamour! Tie the remaining hair in a ponytail and enjoy this pumped-up style.
LAME PONYTAIL EXCUSE #2: my hair is dirty.
Geez. Haven’t you ever heard of dry shampoo? No honestly, it’s a lifesaver! A spritz of this stuff can stop you feeling icky and breathe new life (and a gorgeous fresh scent) into your hair. This is especially great if your hair takes 7,890 hours to dry and then requires 5,689 hours of concentrated straightening to look even slightly presentable – who has the time I ask you?! Simply spritz something like Batiste Tropical Dry Shampoo into your roots, brush it through and then secure your hair into a sexy, textured topknot.
LAME PONYTAIL EXCUSE #3: my hair is an awkward length.
Ah, so you’ve had a bad haircut and your hair is at that awkward, can’t-do-anything-with-it, growing-out phase? Never mind, there are ways to still feel sexy, I swear! Mix it up by adding a side braid to either side of your head. It’s the perfect way to disguise any long fringe pieces you’re trying to grow out – and it’ll make you look all beachy and boho to boot. Yeah – try the Vine braid – you’ll love it.
LAME PONYTAIL EXCUSE #4: my hair is B-O-R-I-N-G.
So you’ve pretty much had it with your girl-next-door ‘do, and you’re looking for a way to mix things up without having to get up an hour earlier each day to do it.
Add a point of interest to your look by sporting a style that isn’t your everyday go-to ‘do. Love a side ponytail? Great, so do we! But wearing one everyday gives people the impression that you’re a one-style wonder. Why not finish it off with a Rapunzel braid? Oh you don’t know how to do it? That’s so funny – because I’ve posted the how-to video above for you…
