3 simple ways to make your hair shinier

Fact: dull, lifeless hair can make you feel just that: dull, depressed and a little unexciting.
What women want is healthy hair that’s got weightless shine and is full of natural movement – not only because it helps to instantly bring your ‘do to life, but because it can also improve your overall appearance, making you look more healthy, radiant and even a little bit younger, too!
So how do you get this shiny, vibrant hair that we know you all want? It’s easy! Simply try these tips from bh and Pantene Ambassador Barney Martin…
#1: Use lightweight, shine-enhancing hair care products
Dull, lacklustre hair can make you feel weighed down; and while there are many causes of it, one of the biggest culprits is simply using the wrong products. If you want to increase shine and overall hair health you need to ditch the heavy shampoos and conditioners that only weigh down your hair and make it look limp and greasy. Instead opt for lightweight yet nourishing products specifically formulated to do increase shine.
Like Pantene Ice Shine, for example. The newest Shampoo, Conditioner and Treatment in the Pantene collection are all lightweight yet hydrating, and all free from dyes and parabens (the Shampoo is free from silicone too – bonus!) In fact, we’d go as far to say it’s a godsend for women with all hair types – even those with fine hair – as it keeps it nourished and healthy without being too heavy. Pantene Ambassador Barney Martin agrees, adding that “using a lightweight shampoo and conditioner means that your hair is easier to style and the style will also last longer.” And we all know that shiny, manageable hair is your ticket to avoiding bad hair days!
#2: eat omega-rich foods
bh recommends incorporating a good amount of omega-3 fatty acids into your diet as they’re vital in promoting shiny, healthy hair. The reason being is that around 3 per cent of your hair shaft is made up of these fatty acids, however your body doesn’t naturally produce them, so gulping them down is a no brainer. Get your fix in some of these omega-3-rich foods: salmon, avocado, pumpkin seeds and walnuts.
#3: brush your hair daily
While you don’t need to go to a Marcia Brady extent, bh does definitely recommend a daily brush if you want to up the shine factor. Not only does regular brushing help stimulate your scalp, producing more healthy hair follicles, but it also assists in distributing the natural oils from your scalp down the hair shaft, flattening your hair cuticles and allowing them to reflect more light. Brushing can also help rid your hair of product build up and impurities, which are known to make your hair look dull and lifeless.

I clean my hair with vinegar about once a week to remove buildup and get rid of dirt and oil. It keeps my hair looking and feeling great.

I do all of these things but my hair never looks shiny. It is blonde and I think darker hair always looks shinier for some reason.

I can't offer any tips for shiny hair! My hair wasn't even shiny when I was a child. Now, with a thyroid condition, my hair isn't in the best condition. I've been doing lots of DIY oil treatments which help.
