Sending out an SOS
It’s not every day that I receive a letter. Press kits, yes; new products, of course; but an actual letter, never! Well, not this year.
Until yesterday that is when I got one all the way from Blighty. The cause of the letter was an all-too common tale: a product not working the way the letter writer would’ve liked. How often has that happened I hear you cry.
Now, before I get in deep, deep trouble with all the beauty brands worldwide, I am NOT saying beauty products don’t work, they do, some beautifully in fact. But now that we’ve gone all high-tech, some work amazingly on a particular hair type or skin tone, but not so well on another. Which can send a tester into a tizz.
This brings me to a tiny bit of self-trumpet blowing. See, what’s the easiest, most foolproof way of finding your perfect match product-wise – I’m talking, if you don’t have all the money in the world to work your way through every product, good and bad? How about seeing if it’s worked on someone that has the same skin type / tone / hair type as you? A try before you buy, if you will. Makes sense, right?
And where does one have access to such a goldmine of information? Why on beautyheaven of course! Take Complete Care Hand and Nail Cream for example, I can log onto the reviews and see that everyone from Coreen (who’s concerned with ageing) to kp (who has sensitive, itchy skin) thinks this is a wonder cream.
It also works the other way around. I have thick, wavy brunette hair and I’m in the market for a change of shampoo. As it happens, aussie_cat87 describes her hair just like mine and declared John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Shine Release Moisturizing Shampoo - Chestnut to Espresso as “one of the best shampoos I have ever used. It left my thick wavy hair silky and shiny.” Definitely one to try then.
What’s the most fabulous thing you’ve bought after reading about it on beautyheaven?
