How to look like you've just left the hairdresser

Every girl loves that salon-fresh feel, and every girl wishes she could walk out of the house looking like she’s just waltzed out of the hair salon.
RELATED: Heat styling terms you need to know
RELATED: What does your hairstyle say about you?
Well, guess what. You don’t need to have weekly blow-dries or hire minions to get gorgeous hair. Would you believe me if I told you that achieving awesome hair at home comes down to the products you choose and when you use them? These treatments and tools are all you need for salon-quality locks, all day, erryday.
FOR VA-VA-VOLUME
My hair is one of my biggest beauty woes. More specifically, its serious lack of body and oomph. Blessed* with fine, limp, oily hair, I’m always teasing and scrunching sections in a desperate bid to get a little height. Lucky me. For those of you in the same (irritating) boat, listen up: what I benefit the most from in-salon is a little pre-styling on my mane. With lift comes bombshell volume, so get these goodies on your side:
TONI&GUY Hair Care Glamour 3D Volumiser
A volumising spray that’ll give you volume, body and fullness (aka gorgeous hair). You can thank me later.
Aveda Volumizing Tonic
This formula creates maximum volume, body and shine while smelling out-of-this-world amazing.
VO5® Extra Body Mousse
Like its name suggests, you’ll get a whole ‘lotta body from using this product. Apply it close to the roots and wait for the magic to happen. And here’s a fun fact: it’s also infused with a weather-resistant guard to keep frizz at bay.
Polished London Dry Shampoo
Did you know Australians are the number one users of dry shampoo? Blame the humidity. Stop those locks from dropping with a volumising product that works to revive unwashed, greasy hair. Spray onto the roots and massage through - no one will suspect a thing. (Don’t push it though!)
FOR SUPER SHINE
Do you ever watch those hair commercials and wonder why the model’s hair is so super glossy and yours isn’t? Me three. The same goes for the salon - I always leave with sparkle-in-the-sun strands but IRL, they’re just downright dowdy. Oh hair, you’re such a tease. Vow to never leave the house again without spritzing your strands with one of these brightening sprays - the result is gobsmacking.
Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray
This beauty delivers pure, luminous shine with a finish so bright, your friends will need sunglasses.
VO5 Tame and Shine Spray
The ultimate two in one: use for styling and as a finishing spray. What more could you ask for?
Lush Shine So Bright Hair Balm
I don’t even care what this product does, I love the packaging. No, I jest, I jest. The smell of olive oil, eggs and coconut oil is why I bought it.
FOR A COOL GIRL BLOW-DRY
I know what you’re thinking: styling = ‘too hard’ basket, and hey, I don’t blame you. It’s not that I don’t want to look amazing (hello, my name is Fabulous!), it’s just that 99.9% of the time I can’t actually be bothered. But with these life-changing styling tools and products, that’s no longer an excuse:
VS Sassoon 3Q Hairdryer
With three heat and three speed settings, noise reduction technology, an airspeed of 150km/h, ‘SmartTech’ brushless motor and a high ionic conditioning system that eliminates static, the cool girl blow-dry has never been so manageable. *Adds to cart*
TIGI BED HEAD Blow-Out
When the going gets tough (and by tough I mean super frizzy and full of flyaways), you know you’ve missed a critical step. Apply a post-blowout cream to smooth those stubborn strands down. This formula also contains sparking gold micra for a gorgeously glossy result. It's a little bit schmancy.
FOR DIMENSION
Ok, this is the last time I complain about my hair. Cross my heart. Since my locks look exactly the same whether I’ve used a straightener or just left them to dry naturally, nothing gets me more excited than wearing a style that is anything but dead straight.
VS Sassoon Deep Retro Glam
When I need a pick-me-up but don’t have the time or funds to visit the pros, I turn to the style gods for help. The triple barrel creates super-defined waves that look beyond ah-mazing after you’ve run your fingers through your hair to give it a little zhush.
VS Sassoon Diamond Waves
I am now officially the master of Hollywood waves. Don't believe me? Now you will. If I had a dollar for every time I’d used this to style my hair and a someone has asked me if I’d paid my hairdresser a visit, I’d be rich. Filthy rich. Thanks to the unqie barrel wave design, getting that just-left-the-salon style of your choice is easy as 1, 2, 3.
Philips Airstyler
What's better than a million hair tools that create different styles? One tool that'll do them all! With three nozzle attachments, no style is out of reach. Click here and here to see the styler in action. Salon worrthy results? Absolutely.

I love using a hair treatment conditioner such as Pantene's 3 minute miracle followed by a Moroccan hair oil. This keeps my hair soft and manageable.

I tried the Moroccan Oil some time ago when it first came out. Excellent product. On a shopping trip recently I found it quite difficult to find even a single shine spray. I used to use a Schwarzkopf one only to find that it doesn't appear to be one the market any longer. If anyone has any other suggestions I would love to know what you have tried.

I'm definitely taking notes on those volumising products - despite having fairly thick hair nothing seems to keep body in it for long! I've been eyeing the Redken No Blow Dry styling products lately, since the Wax Blast spray is currently my fave for looking like I've just been to the salon. It's all in the texture!
