Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can use on my oily skin to reduce the oilyness, skincare, makeup, etc?
Ive had such a hard time with my oily skin, I've tried not to use skincare products to help get rid of my oily skin because that has made my skin worse and made it dry and flakey. To help keep your oiliness at bay you should mattifying facial moisturises and face primers, setting sprays, blotting sheets and powders.
Some of the products that help me are:
Rimmel stay matte primer
Hour glass mineral veil primer
Becca Ultimate coverage complexion creme
Essence blotting sheets (also available from other brands)
NYX matte setting spray
Hylamide Pore Delete (i prefer to use this on its own)
Rimmel Stay Matte powder
You could also try baking the oily parts of your face with translucent loose powder. First try lightly setting your face and then baking, try to watch some youtube tutorials online.
Hope this helps!
There's heaps of other oily skin threads on here. You should definitely suss out them.
However, I have oily skin myself.
I find that using a toner does help. I currently use Thursday Plantation Tea Tree and Witch hazel toner.
Mattifying products are a huge help. I use the L'Oreal Infallible Mattifying Primer. Can use mattifying powder too. I sometimes use the Maybelline Mattifying Pressed powder.
Some say that using oils can help trick your body into thinking that you've already produced enough so you don't need anymore. but not everyone likes the feel of oil on their face on top of the oil from having oily skin. I personally don't use it.
However despite using all these products, my nose still turns into an oil slick at the end of the day. Even when I use the products and even when I don't. Everyone's skin is different. I hope they work for you.
tea tree is great for oily skin as a cleanser but watch it is not too drying, dermalogica have a great cleanser called special cleansing gel that foams well, does not add extra oil and cleans brilliantly to get rid of impurities
LOL lauren! just ask me ;)
i think you need to get on the setting spray band wagon and perhaps try an oil once a week to trick that skin into thinking its better than it is. maybe we need to try out a oil cleanser rather than a foaming cleanser for a while ?
What products do you currently use? Do you use products to dry out your skin? Your skin could be making up for oils that are being stripped away.
I use Ora's Amazing Herbal face powder scrub and then hydrate with either coconut oil or Ora's daily face oil serum and it seems to be working for me. Also, make sure you are removing all makeup by using an exfoliating make up remover.
(1) I found that after my showers (which I run rather hot, terrible I know...) I left my moisturizing till ages later. It is actually one of the first things you need to do after stepping out of that hot water! All that time doing other things, getting dressed, brushing teeth etc. and my skin has lost so much moisture. Kicking off your day by kicking your skin into oil overdrive through dehydration is not a good idea, and I learnt that the hard way!
(2) Drink plenty of water! what goes inside shows on the outside.
(3) I have found the best results using face products aimed at people with sensitive skin, and I have three steps to my routine: wash, tone, moisturize. Morning and night (swap your day moisturizer for a night time one).
Oily skin is the worst, and I hate looking like I ran a mile. These three things definitely made an improvement for myself though. Good luck!
I have been dealing with oily skin my whole life. I've found the solution is a good skincare routine, finding out what works for your skin. A lot of the time, the issue is using overly drying formulas 'designed for oily skin' and having blocked pores that aren't being cleansed properly.
I recommend Cetaphil oily skin cleanser twice a day, use a BHA toner, and find a moisturising gel - without alcohol in it as this is extremely drying and can cause your skin to produce more oil! The trouble is finding the balance between stripping your natural oils, and leaving some there to maintain the balance. It's really trial an error with skincare, and finding what suits you and your skin best. Good luck!
Try to clean face daily two time with lukewarm water and you have to avoid much makeup. Try to take oil free cosmetic, use moisturizers, stop over washing your face, try sunscreen before going outside of the home. Finally, choose a skin care product that made for oily skin.

For many years I have had severe allergic reaction to normal hair colour that contains ammonia and peroxide.
I had good results both with niacinamide and vitamin C in the past, and I like using them both in my morning routine, but I'm not a fan of layering several products.
I loved this. I have dry hair but wow this changed it. It hydrated and moisturized my hair, it made it smell so nice and fresh. It gave my hair a shine.
