Not what I had hoped
After using the Multi-Peptide Anti Ageing Serum and being very impressed with its ability to assist with my ageing skin I was very excited to try this product.
Most Impressive
I think I have used close to every product under the sun for Anti-Ageing - all the hype with never the result.
Great starter vitamin C
This comes in a well presented dropper bottle.
I was surprised to find it a creamy white colour, all other vitamin C serums I have tried have been thin and yellow.

They do take a while to kick in. I take the Blackmores Hair, Skin and Nails one and I really like it, but it says on the label that it takes about 12 weeks to start seeing results. Swisse is probably the same. How long have you been taking them for?
Blackmores Radiance are really good too, but pricy.
I didn't realise there were vitamins specifically for hairs, skin and nails! I might go check them out
I always see the qsilica (for hair skin and nails) at chemist warehouse, but have never tried them or any others. Have always been curious about them though. I've always wondered if they work at all and after how long
I make sure I include one tablespoon of olive oil in my diet every day. I swear by it , I beleive it helps keep me moisturised from the inside if that makes any sense, also lots of fresh fruit and veg. Another thing I do is take an Omega 3 supplement. It doesnt hurt to try and I always feel better and feel I look more radiant, my nails dont dry and split and I get complimented on my hair often.
Silica is excellent for skin, hair and nails, when buying a vitamin brew I always make sure it contains silica in the ingredients, like all vitamins you can't expect to see any noticeable results until you have been taking the supplements regularly for at least three months :)
My mum was put on to sillica after she had chemo a few years back and swears by it.
I tried the blackmores hair, skin and nails a while ago but didnt make any difference to me.
I use silica and it is good. My hair grows much better now and is just healthier feeling in general. My nails.. well i dont know about them but i know they dont break as much anymore but im also using sally hansen treatments for them. I cant say ive seen a massive difference in my skin but i mostly got it for my hair which is what has improved noticeably. As Mel said, it can take a few months before you see any change though.
am taking blackmores hair, skin and nails. As for mollygirl said, doesn't seem to make any difference.
i think Zinc is good for skin and hair
Qsilica or colloidal silica in gel form worked for me. It made my hair and nails grow super fast and strong. I don't take it too often now because I have short hair and it makes my hair grow too fast which means more frequent trips to my hairdresser.
I have tried zinc tablets in the past but didn't feel like it made much difference.
My mum has been eating 3 brazil nuts a day for over a year now, and it's really helped her to have healthier hair and nails. (She's been on dialysis for several years now and it takes it's toll on things like that.) Brazil nuts are really high in selenium, which is something Australians can easily be deficient in, because we have a low selenium content in our soil, meaning a low selenium content in our locally grown food.
I've noticed a differenbec with Q-Silica with nail growth rate and quality, also how quickly skin cuts repair themselves (gardening is dangerous!!) and hair growth quality (wish it was rate as well). I mix the liquid in a drink but you can get capsules.
Qsilica is really good I noticed results within the first week. That reminds me I've been out for a while and need to buy more. Its also good for other parts of your body too!
I take a variety of vitamins but not just specifically for hair, skin and nails but for general beauty.
Calcium, D3 and minerals - to help prevent osteoperosis. Also when your bones weaken when you are older it can lead to a stoop of the spine. This is ageing and looks very uncomfortable.
Fish oil and Evening Primrose oil - for good mood, relieveing PMS and moisturising the skin from the inside out.
Multi vitamin - i take a swisse multi vitamin once a day for general health.
MSM - a natural sulphur compound that is great for hair, skin, nails and general health.
I think that vitamins are important but they should not replace a healthy diet. You can not party all night or eat crappy and then pop some vitamins. You still need to take care of your yourself.
This is my 1st post on the forum EVER since joining a while back...
1 of the biggest things in my life is growing VERRRRRRRY long nails and also keeping them very clean, neat and pretty. Long nails are so fun, sexy and also add to the overal image we keep. so for me its something very central.
insteado f writing a whole book about waht i do for my care and my usual system of products, ill say that the 2 most impt things are a good cream to use daily, and also a good either or both of a multivitamin, or a silica gel / source of Si/biotin.
The best product i can ever suggest is SILICEA , which is best taken as a liquid, but there are also pills.
For a generealy multivit pill - blackmores and also swisse are very good labels. themin thing is to get these in the pill - Zn, Ca, Cu, and also biotin/folate/ - and the metals are best used by the body when joined in magnesium compounds.
im happy ot check in and advice more or answer Qs/
Nat
Zinc is a must for hair and skin, while Vitamin B is excellent for hair, skin and nails.
zinc is also good for nails - zinc along with some other metals are parts of forming whats called a prosthetic grp, of a metal atom bonded into a protein complex, and these are use as part of the building blocks and machinery to make the keratins for the nail.
but like all things for helth - just coz you smash the body with a certain substance doesnt mean u get results.. it neds tobe in the right form (chemically) to be absorbed at the rite time nad place, and get actually used. thats why Mg compounds are really good.
just gettin a lil technical here.. but i stand by my theory with my own results Lol.

Natures owns one is great seeing great results and it is the actual hair, skin and nails tablet.
I had the swisse hair skin nail tablets and didn't really see any improvements. I am having the blackmores ones now which seem better but my problem is I take them for a few weeks and then I don't worry for a bit and forget cos i see no improvements...I really need to continue having them every day for a few months!
yes! it takes a longer timeto see a decent improving - and it takes longer if u use ONLY somting like a single pill. the best results are from combo work - items for nails in the creams and polishes, and also diet with pills for nail boosting plus vitamins, plus biotin and silica/gel. honestly if u have weak or bad nails, the good results take more like 6mths to get something u can se and is ongoing. but id say a minimum of 4mths of ongoing work. but if u start - why ever stop? just takes a new sense of dedication that most ppl find hard to keep going.
Zinc is also great for you skin i take zinc tablets everyday also
I use a nail strenghner too which i find works really well and I hardly need the pills with it cos it makes so much difference but i take the pills for my hair too
i am a guy and use Silicea for my skin which gets a beating at work. plus the bonus is that it makes my hair thicker. Took 2 months to really kick in tho. I tried the Qsilica as the box looked cool but the only one that actually works for me is the Hubner Silicea. the guy in GNC was telling me that the Qsilica version is cheaper ripoff of Hubner and is just crushed up tablets mixed in water. The Hubner one is a lot thicker thats for sure, you have to shake it out of the bottle...seems more concentrated to me. The Q one is like couldy water.
Seems you get what you pay for i guess but if you want real results go for the Hubner Silicea one.
I started taking a multi-vitamin today (the new Blackmore NutriMulti + Wholefood nutrients one). It has Biotin and Zinc in it along with heaps of other nutrients. Hopefully I start seeing and feeling some results after a month or two. I hope it strengthens my nails and hair (not too sure if it will effect my skin) . I'll keep you posted :)
