My legs get really itchy after shaving when the hair starts to grow back. It drives me crazy sometimes. Any tips or suggestions would be great thanks.
Maybe you are allergic to the shaving cream you are using? Try switching to a shaving cream for sensitive skin...Hope this helps you out....
I seem to get this regardless of what creams, gels or soaps I use to shave with. The problem occurs when the hair starts to grow back.
i try moisturiser and different crams to shave with and all sorts of different rasors and nothing has helped im in the same boat. the least painful time was using an avon shaving cream for sensitive skin however. its hard though as everyone reacts differently
you need to exfoliate prior to shaving...
this will help
I have heard of exfoliating too, what products would I use for this?
Ever tried waxing?,
the hair grows back softer, and takes about a couple of
weeks to grow back, and it does'nt Itch,
and exfoliating does help,
usually its the dry skin that causes the itch
just use any body exfoliator every couple of days should help the itch...
and moisturise everyday after showering..
I use one of those exfoliating gloves in the shower and just add some body wash and massage into my skin. the gloves are pretty cheap and you can buy them from Priceline or the Body Shop.
Thanks I will look for one.
Make sure you always use a sharp razor. Blunt razors make your skin itchy because they don't cut properly. And always rub a moisturising cream on after shaving. It softens and smoothes skin
Thanks the razor is another good start. I still find the mens one's to be sharper. Any suggestions to a good razor?
The Gillettemens ones are good, really sharp and got good moisturiser strips. Use a good bit of shaving cream, and then after remember to exfoliate with a mitt or get regularly to prevent ingrowns. They occur because the skin surface isn't clear so exfoliating can make the way clear for a new hair to grow. Exfoliation will help with the itching too, don't forget to moisturise and drink plenty of water!
Exfotonic is a great exfoliator and the Schick Quatro for Women razor gives a great finish.
I second the Schick Quatro, I'd been using the Venus razor until but recently bought the Schick Quatro and am impressed with how good it is.
my skin does the exact same thing. no matter what product i use to shave, or exfoliate my legs always itch too. The one thing i tried is after shaving, rinse your legs clean and wash you legs with QV wash. when you've finished your shower, keep your legs still a bit wet, then use a small amount of QV moisturiser (or something else gentle and unscented) and moisturise your legs whilst wet so the lotion goes a lot further.
You should try waxing because it keeps the hairs away for longer and it doesnt itch. Also it can make some roots just totally disappear. Or you can try to moisturise every night or morning.
I agree with Miss Piggy, waxing would probably help.
Schlick Silk Effects razors are really sharp, you don't have to shave every day.
It doesn't make any difference if I exfoliate or not, it seems the itching starts around three days after shaving when the hair is growing back.
Have you tried using a new razor/shaver? I've heard that ones that are a bit old and worn may cause itching because they don't cut as well as they should do like when they're new. As it ages the blade wears away and it's a less event cut. Perhaps try a new blade?
Yep tried all of the suggestions so far, I always get this and it is annoying. Never waxed though as I can't wait for my leg hairs to grow while living in the heat up here in NQ.
I've had this problem with my armpits-I'd look like a monkey if I started scratching them.
I also have the same problems and end up stop shaving and wear long pants and tops it but it's hard in the summer. It happens when the hair is just coming through it's seem to be all prickly irritating and then I have big scratch marks up my legs. I have tried shaving cream, soap etc moisturising my legs everything (the past 20 years there has been alot of different shavers out there) but nothing seems to work.
I haven't try waxing but if you do wax melmeko tell me how you go cause it drives me insane maybe i'm allergic to shaving or stubble??? lol
Maybe an anti-itch cream that contains calamine. There is one called Animine I think.
it is from dry skin, i use to have it and went to a skin doctor... you do need to exfoliate and need to moisturise daily as shaving is taking out the moisture
Just want to say Girls, I found the best razor and works for me (I do wax, but when I'm in a hurry I do use a razor)
The Venus Breeze Gillette works like a dream, you don't even need soap or shaving cream, as on the edges of the razor is two strips of shave gel for a light lather that makes the razor glide over so easy..
For many years I have had severe allergic reaction to normal hair colour that contains ammonia and peroxide.
I had good results both with niacinamide and vitamin C in the past, and I like using them both in my morning routine, but I'm not a fan of layering several products.
I loved this. I have dry hair but wow this changed it. It hydrated and moisturized my hair, it made it smell so nice and fresh. It gave my hair a shine.
