Does anyone know which fakes tans do not contain DHA? I heard there's new ones coming out which don't have it which means they don't smell as much or go orange?
please explain what dha stands for
I'm not actually sure!! It's just the ingredient that they use which makes your skin turn brown (or orange!) and apparently they have a new ingredient which is better?
DHA stands for Dihydroxyacetone - this is the tanning ingredient in every fake tan, it is derived from sugar to be exact and virtually just stains your skin brown. The only other ingredient that has a similar effect is Erythulouse (sp?) Is used more in America than here and there are products that contain both E and DHA. Dha is the preffered product to use and is def superior - E tends to fade poorly especially.
Not all fake tans smell bad, alot depends on the other ingredients in the product and all fake tans tend to smell, even if only a little bit, while they are processing but after the first shower the smell disappears.
Orange is simply from applying too much DHA - it over processes, so dont try and go too dark!
Hope this helps you a bit : )
The smell lingers on me... Others say they cant smell it on me, but I can, even after I have showered and I can smell it in my clothes... this may be because I metabolise sugars badly - I am very susceptable to the effect of sugars, I produce ketones because I am hypoglycemic (low blood sugar)... I would love a fake tan that really doesn't smell...
Everybody: try St Tropez. Beautiful smell and doesn't make u go orange like allllll the other tans i've tried.
St Tropez doesn't smell much and the smell goes away after washing. Napoleon is very similar to St Tropez but it definately smells after showering.
Glamourcat I have been deliberately in ketosis for a month now and it has had no effect on my tanning.
Isn't DHA a newer chemical that is used in spray tans, St. Tropez and Napoleon? It produces a much nicer than than the older products (Le Tan, garnier etc) I don't find that DHA makes me orange at all and I am quite pale naturaly. The older tans really streak and go orange on me.
i found napolean the best fake tan
but the best gradual tan is the sunscene
it is really good and you get to choose what colour
or how dark you become
Fake tans have always used DHA, every fake tan product contains it!!! Not just napoleon and St Tropez thats for sure!
ps - orange is simply from too much DHA
As GlammaGirl has explained beautifully, all self-tans contain some measure of DHA in order to stain your skin in mimicry of a suntan. What you're looking for is a body bronzer, which will give you instant colour, albeit on a more temporary basis than self-tan (it will just wash off). I rely on Jungle Bronze Skin Gloss when I need to get golden on the double - it's coconutty, delivers a gorgeous dewy colour and is deliciously moisturising too. There's also a story on Bh about getting the perfect faux glow which includes some DHA body bronzers and recommends a DHA-free salon spray as well. You can check it out at this link:
I hope it's a help,
For many years I have had severe allergic reaction to normal hair colour that contains ammonia and peroxide.
I had good results both with niacinamide and vitamin C in the past, and I like using them both in my morning routine, but I'm not a fan of layering several products.
I loved this. I have dry hair but wow this changed it. It hydrated and moisturized my hair, it made it smell so nice and fresh. It gave my hair a shine.
