Easy summer hair how-to: 80s pin-up girl
FOUND: the perfect summertime hairstyle that’ll not only leave you looking hot-to-trot in your summer frock, but keep you cool on a scorching hot day or balmy night, too. It’s called the 80s pin-up girl ‘do, and its feminine, a little bit retro and uber cute. Just ask Rihanna – she looks utterly adorable with that gorgeous red and white polka dot scarf.
But the best part about this ladylike ‘do is this: you can mix up your headpiece (think headscarfs, headbands or even fascinators) to match whatever outfit you’re donning, or whatever mood you’re in. The possibilities are endless, really. It’s also a super-simple way to freshen up a much-loved frock that needs a fresh spin. And goodness know we all need to make our outfits stretch beyond one occasion at this time of year…
THE PERFECT SUMMERTIME HAIR ‘DO
STEP 1: Apply a volumising mousse like Taft FULL ON Booster Volume Mousse to the roots of damp hair and blow-dry your hair brushing it in upwards motions away from your root area to encourage extra height.
STEP 2: Once dry, tie your hair back into a loose, high ponytail, leaving your fringe and/or front layers out.
STEP 3: Spray on a heat protecting spray like Taft FULL ON Guardian Angel Straightening Iron Spray to protect your hair from getting damaged. Then, using a wand or hot iron like Jilbère de Paris Euro 2500 25mm Ceramic Curler, curl your entire ponytail in small sections.
STEP 4: Once your ponytail is completely curled and cooled, pin sections of your hair loosely around the base of the hair tie using bobby pins.
STEP 5: Next, curl your fringe or front layers away from the face, and then lock in the style using a strong hairspray like Taft FULL ON Freeze It Fixing Hairspray.
STEP 6: Complete the 80s pin-up girl look by adding a headscarf that works perfectly with your frock, and tie in a bow to complete that super-cute finish.
What do you think of this summertime ‘do? Can you imagine wearing it with your favourite frock to a brunch, lunch, dinner or Christmas party? What coloured headscarf would you wear?
