How to look fabulous at 50 and beyond
I’m in my mid-twenties, so I know that the worry of ageing (and doing so gracefully) isn’t something that should keep me awake at night just yet. But I have to confess, when I look at pictures of Helen Mirren, I can’t help but think, “I want to be exactly that when I’m her age.” Honestly, just look at the woman! At the ripe age of 67, she’s rocking the body of someone at least 30 years her junior and glowing as if she isn’t a day over 20.
And it’s not as if she’s some magical, one-of-a-kind being that exists alone among a generation of women who look their age. There’s a whole slew of A-listers that are rocking their later years with the confidence that comes from looking good.
So what’s their secret? Bird poop? Leeches? Unicorn blood? Nup, none of the above. In fact, you’d be surprised by what some of Hollywood’s celebs do (or don’t do) to look so good.

Helen’s a firm believer in exercising daily. For a mere 15 minutes and that’s it. She also places a lot of importance on getting enough shut-eye each night. Oh, and she doesn’t let a little thing like filming a movie get in her way – she just naps in her trailer during lunch!
While the 66-year-old Absolutely Fabulous actress recently admitted to having regular collagen injections in her forehead and mouth, she’s no plastic-surgery nut. In fact, she’s really into taking vitamin supplements and flaxseed oil to help maintain her youthful appearance. And, importantly, she’s actually really happy to embrace those laughter lines.
Sophia’s 78 years old and still looking fabulous. One of the things we love most about her simple beauty routine? ANYONE can follow suit, all they need to do is head to the kitchen. The Italian beauty is a huge advocate for organic, cold-pressed virgin olive oil. Besides eating it, she also uses it as a body moisturiser, a night cream, and a bath oil.

At 53, Jaime Lee isn’t letting a little thing like ageing get to her. She’s actually written about how she’s against the term ‘anti-ageing’ and the cultural obsession of looking young. She’s all about embracing the ageing process, even going so far as skipping out on dying her hair anymore. She also believes that general everyday movement and portion control is the best thing you can do for yourself.
The Italian model is creeping up on 50 (she’s 48), but you wouldn’t think it by looking at her. When it comes to her diet and exercise, she keeps it pretty simple – portion control and some swimming, jogging, and yoga (with a bit of kickboxing on the side). As for her beauty secrets? She’s got none, saying that beauty comes from the inside, and if you feel beautiful, you’ll look beautiful.
