Beauty risks every girl should take at least once
Most of the time, beauty is fun, but sometimes it can cause a bit of anxiety. Usually, this frightened feeling comes when you’re about to make a dramatic change, try something for the first time, or give someone else complete control over your look. But if you don’t take risks every once and a while, you might never have a life-changing beauty moment. The kind where you think, “why didn’t I do this before?!”

So come on, ladies - change is good!
#1 Go blonde
Every girl has to go blonde at least once, even if it’s just a few highlights here and there. How else will you ever truly know if blondes have more fun?
#2 Grow out your eyebrows
As hard as it is to put the tweezers down and deal with crazy caterpillars above your eyes for a few months, it’s the only way you’re going to get the bold brow of your dreams.
#3 Try a fringe
Sure, you can assume whether a fringe will suit you based on your face shape, but you’ll never know for sure until you get the chop. And the best thing about hair is that it grows back! If you’re not ready for the scissors just yet, there’s one way to get a pretty good idea…
#4 Get a Brazilian
Let’s be real: having another lady look at your bits, apply hot wax and then rip out all your hair can be confronting, but the baby-smooth results could be right up your alley. Plus, it’s nowhere near as horrible as it sounds and once you’ve been a few times, the process is about as eventful as a trip to the supermarket.
#4 Tint your brows
Scary, we know. Anything that’s irreversible (and on your face) is daunting, but you can always start light and go darker as you become more comfortable.
#5 Get a spray tan
We’ve all seen tans gone wrong, so if you’ve steered clear of spray tans until now, that’s completely understandable. BUT the reason you only remember the orange people you’ve come across is that everyone else's tans look so good, you didn’t realise they were fake.
#6 Go braless
Whether you’ve got small mosquito bites or big juicy mangos, there comes a time in every beauty’s life when an outfit calls for no bra. So if you’re ready to finally wear that backless or low-cut dress, here are some sneaky helpers to make you feel less vulnerable:
- Hollywood Fashion Tape
- Hidden Treasure Supalite Lace Silicone Adhesive Cups ($44.99, www.brasnthings.com)
- Fashion Fix-Its Reusable Nipple Covers ($8, target.com.au)
#7 Let your hairdresser do what they want
Had a bad cut or colour in the past? Chances are you now go into the salon with clear instructions and photo examples. But once (just ONCE), let your hairdresser do what they want. It’s risky, but chances are they’re going to open your eyes to an amazing new ‘do you never would’ve thought to consider.
#8 Wear black lipstick (or blue, green or yellow)
Even if it’s just for Halloween, buy the craziest colour you can think of and wear it. Then, when it becomes the top trend at Paris Fashion Week one year, you’ll have instant satisfaction about wearing it first.
Have you taken any of the above beauty risks? Which of the above do you find the most daunting?
