Should I be sheet masking my vagina?
Working in beauty, we see a tonne of weird, wonderful and WTF products every day. One of the more surprising products discovered this year? The vagina sheet mask. “The what mask?” you may be asking (and rightly so), but yes you read correctly - there are now sheet masks specially formulated for your downstairs. After stumbling across this innovation in intimate health, we were curious to uncover what other steps our down south beauty routine could be missing. And turns out, a sheet mask is just the beginning...

The aforementioned vagina sheet mask (aptly named Muff Masque), is formulated with aloe vera, witch hazel, chamomile and coconut oil to rejuvenate and hydrate the skin. It can be used post-wax to avoid ingrown hair or just whenever you’re up for a pussy pamper sesh. And while these masks are referred to as ‘vagina masks’, it’s important to note they’re for external use only, and directed to be used on the delicate skin around your vagina.

Cleansing and toning
Just like we use cleanser and toner on our face to clean and restore the pH balance to our skin, intimate washes do the same thing for our vaginas. The pH balance of the vagina is very delicate, so using a wash specially formulated for that region ensures it will be gentle enough to be non-irritating.
As the days get warmer, we get sweatier. This sweat isn’t just reserved for our underarms - as anyone who’s ever left the gym to see a patch of sweat on the crotch of their tights would know. In order to stop the excess sweating down there, as well as help with chafing, there are deodorants specially formulated to be gentle enough to use on the vagina. Who knew?!

Face wipes are a staple of every lazy girl’s skincare routine, and vagina wipes work in a similar way. Just as washes are formulated to cleanse your vagina in the shower, wipes are for on-the-go. Whether you just feel like you need a refresh post-gym or during your period, wipes are discreet enough to fit in your handbag or pocket.

While face oils are formulated to give us dewy and hydrated skin, vagina oils help us in another way entirely. The Weleda Perineum Massage Oil is formulated to increase elasticity in the soft tissue between the vagina and anus, to prevent tearing during childbirth.

2019 has been the year of the facial device. We have ones for cleansing, tightening, brightening, plumping - there’s a tool for every skincare concern under the sun. Not to be outdone, the feminine health industry has also developed an array of tools to fit their customer needs. When I say ‘vagina tool’ your mind probably goes straight to vibrators (which there are still plenty of - don’t worry), but now there are also tools to help with strengthening the pelvic floor, like the Fun Factory Smart Ball Duo.
What’s the strangest beauty invention you’ve come across this year?
