Kiss and Tell: LUSH's same-sex marriage campaign
Well, isn’t this wonderful news? The supportive people at LUSH have decided to do their bit and attempt to end the ongoing discrimination against same-sex Australian couples wanting to marry by holding a nationwide kissing protest, aptly named Kiss and Tell.
LUSH is inviting its beloved customers and their pouts – as well as any supporters of gay marriage – to enter its stores across the nation at 1pm on Saturday 14 July and have a pash in support of marriage equality. Those taking part will be able to sign the Australian Marriage Equality petition, which calls on the Australian Federal Government to make amendments to the current Australian Marriage Act. Local couples will be in-store at this time too, kissing up a storm in attempt to drum up much-needed support, and they’ll even pose for photos if you’re keen to spread the word even further.
Better yet, as of 9 July, LUSH will turn its stores into campaign centres for one week, where anyone can pop in and learn more about marriage equality and the rights same-sex couples don’t currently have as well as sign the petition. So, if you’re keen to get involved but you’re completely tied up on Saturday, you can still put pen to paper this week.
Thinking of making a purchase while you’re in the store? Why not pick up a limited edition LUSH Freedom Foamer Bubble Bar ($7.50)? Considering 100% of the proceeds from the purchase of the product go towards the Australian Marriage Equality’s campaign to end marriage discrimination, it’s worth its weight in love. Or gold. Or both, really!
So, if you’re a lover of all things fair, get your little toosh into LUSH this Saturday or even during the week, and pucker up and put pen to paper. By kissing and telling, you’re helping everyone – gay or non-gay – to gain the right to marry. And who are we to squash a love bubble? Love for all, we say!
What do you think of LUSH’s Kiss and Tell campaign? Will you be popping into LUSH this week to show your support?
