Tatt's gotta hurt

Don’t you just hate it when you go to the hairdresser with a picture of a famous starlet only to walk out again, an hour or so later, looking more pleb than celeb.
This is the same but like, a trillion times worse. So bad in fact that I can’t help but laugh in an OMG way. Belgian teenager Kimberley Vlaminck – who, might I add, is just 18 – popped along to her local tattoo parlour to have three stars inked next to her left eye. As you do. Daddy paid. Riiiight.
She then fell asleep while pops was outside eating an ice cream – does anyone else think this is all back to front? – only to wake up with 56 black stars across her WHOLE face. I kid thee not – see inset.
Vlaminck is now seeking damages in the thousands claiming that she “cannot go out on to the street, I just look ugly, a freak, mutilated.”
The moral of the story kids: it works for old sexpots like Megan Fox and Angie but us mere mortals? Not so much. (Oh and don’t fall asleep. Ever.)
However if you still want to go ahead and make your mark, perhaps select a tattooist who uses Infinitink. Ten years in the making and just recently gracing our shores, it’s a permanent ink that’s up to three to four times more removable than conventional tattoo ink, surely making it a favourite for those wise guys who opt for tongue tattoos (above) or ‘the one’s’ name. Yes Mr Depp, I’m looking at you.
Developed by Dr Rox Anderson, a Harvard dermatology professor and Dr Edith Mathiowitz, a professor of medical science and engineering at Brown University, Infinitink uses the same technology as microencapsulating medicines in plastic polymers to control the time and rate that the drugs release in the body. The wizz-bang technology traps the dye pigments in microscopic beads coated with safe, biodegradable plastic that’s designed to break open when exposed to heat, thus making it easy to laser off.
Heck it’s all a tad confusing for my uninked mind to take in, but it does have the nod of approval from leading tatt men Brandon Bond, Chris Blinston and Brian Murphy, so go for your lives tatt fans.
So bh-ers, who amongst you is inked? Who feels strongly against it? Tell me all…

I once got my hair cut and coloured by a girl who looked like she'd skinned a ferral tom cat and glued it to her scalp - her hair was horrendous. So I had noone to blame but myself when I wasn't happy with my hair. If you saw the tattooist, his face was completely covered with tattoos, plus they couldn't communicate very well, whether or not she asked for 3 stars or 56 her poor judgement in the matter led to an outcome she will regret for a long time.

I'm inked and regret the decision I made as a 17 year old, luckily it is on my lower back and rarely seen by anybody but my partner...

I noticed not a lot of people on here don't have or like tattoos. I have 2 one on my lower back and one on my wrist, I carefully thought them through and one I designed myself. I'll probably get more, I don't regret them, I'm a creative arty person. As for the girl well I think the whole thing is a scam with or without her father involved.

Gah. I think that Belgian girl is telling porkies. As some of the other BHers have said, who can tolerate so much pain as to fall asleep while ink is being needled into your face!?
I like some tattoos but I am yet to gather the courage to get the tatts done that I want (nothing big or tasteless, just a quote by my fav philosopher in russian). That and anyone clever I know who has got tatts has told me
-Know what you want and think about it. If you can get a pic of what you want and stick it somewhere you will see it everyday and still like it after 6 months, then its something you can have on your body for the rest of your life. That and avoid any tatts before you're 25 and young and stupid

This story just doesn't ring true for me. I don't see how she could have fallen asleep whilst they were doing that.

I like tattoos but I don't have any. I can't think of anything I would want to look at on my body for the rest of my life. I like meeting people with tattoos and hearing the stories behind them. It would be pretty bad to live with that on your face though. i have never heard of a tongue tatt...

I have been tattooed all over my back. And can't wait to get more. I love them but mine is very personal and ever gets to see daylight (unless at the beach can't help showing it off there).
This girl must be surely lying. How can you possibly "fall asleep" when you are getting tattooed on your face? 3 stars would take 30mins compare to at least one hour for 56 stars? liar liar pants on fire.

I think this girl is full of it! I couldn't imagine falling asleep during something like that. I'm not a huge fan of tattoos - I have had friends who have got them done & they look ok, but not for me.

also , i just wanted to say , dont judge the tattooist based on his tatts or piercings. much like makeup artists , they my apply makeup you would never wear / doesnt mean her talent is lessened .

I am not a tattoo lover and I would never get one on myself, but some of my friends have really cute ones that means a lot to them or is sacred to their culture.
BUT TO GET 53 STARS ON HER FACE? UMMMMM the thought of getting a tatt makes my skin hurt- as if someone could fall asleep during that?! Some people are just plain STUPID and shows how STUPID this world is becoming

I'm a tattoo lover too! I'm obsessed with watching Miami Ink and LA Ink on foxtel - I just love them! Having said that, I only currently have one, I am planning for more, but I think about it for AGES before getting it - as I don't want to get something on a whim, or that I later want to remove. I would never get majorly visible tatts either - I prefer them more private and discreet - but each to their own. I think some look fab and it totally suits their personality - like Ruby Rose - I think hers look awesome and suit her 100%. I also LOVE Rihanna's tattoos - that girl def has the tattoo bug - and she has some awesome ones!
As for the girl with stars - WHAT AN IDIOT! And I think it's a crokc of sh*t. No one can fall asleep during a tattoo. Particularly not on your face! They hurt more when there's less flesh, and where the skin is more sensitive - so she's full of it.

I don't have any tattoo's and don't ever intend to do so. Other people can wear them, that's fine with me. My father has quite a few. This girl is going to go through quite a lot a pain for her foolishness, she fell asleep, my bum!

I have one tattoo that I got when about 9 years ago and I still love it, especially as it has sentimental meaning to me. As for the lass for the stars on her face, I'm not sure how she fell asleep, as lorir16 said it doesnt exactly tickle! What a drongo! For anyone thinking about getting inked - they are very addictive!!

I have a small tattoo on my lower back which I love. As long as you put a lot of thought into your design knowing it's there for good is not a problem. Having said that, It hurt like hell getting it so I don't believe this girl for a minute! You just don't fall asleep, especially when someone's tattooing your face!

Ewwww! Is that tongue for real? Can their tastebuds even function anymore? Pretty ripped off if your sense of taste was diminished - I love my food and flavours!
As for the face thingo - honestly that makes me feel like vomitting. I don't blame the girl for changing her mind - the end result looks like she had mud splattered all over one side of her face.
I always feel sorry for people when I see them stuck with their tattoos from mega-moons ago. I recently saw a man who had removed a whole arm's worth of tatts because he ended up hating them and the stigma attached to them. HIs arm looked red and weird from the removal and I felt sorry for him that it would never be perfect like his other arm which hadn't been tattooed.
I say, go to a psychologist first, sort out your emotional problems and then see if you still feel the need to get one! You may just save yourself from years of regret. No matter how small and inconspicuous the tatt is - you would know it, even if it is hidden from everyone else. You'd still have to wear it - every day!
Make-up is cool - you can wash it off!

As long as they are aesthetically pleasing, I love them. I dont have one myself, but love to have a delicate little heart or a butterfly on the nape of my neck. I also love LiLo's tattoo in white saying "breathe". But something very extreme is just body mortification. I wouldn't go through pain, pay for it and get scarred.

I have been toying around with the idea of getting a small tatt but, haven't decided yet. I don't mind tatts especially on men. I have seen girls with huge tatts on their back and think it's looks good now but, wait until they are older it won't look as good then.

LOL, I saw this on the news last night, and even the news reader was trying hard not to laugh! Did anyone else see the Tattoo Shop guy?? He looked like a freak..... Oh well, each to their own I guess...... I can't see how she could have slept throug it all though, I havn't got any tattoo's but from what friends have told me, it hurts like hell...... I have had my moments when I was younger when I thought I would like one, but as I'm a big sooky la la, I never got around to it..... My pain threshold is very low, I'd probably scream the roof down. So I'll stick to fake tattoo's if I want one for a night out thanks......
